Photographs of street shrines dedicated to some of this year’s homicide victims have been published by Washington’s Other Monuments.
This memorial for Alvin Allen Jr. is on Stanton Road Southeast. Allen was found gunned down in the 3400 block of Stanton Road SE around 3 a.m. May 5.
This street shrine for Dontel Price is located a half a block off North Capitol Street. Price was found shot in the unit block of S Street Northeast May 18.
This memorial for 19-year-old James Edward Dean is on Buena Vista Terrace Southeast. Dean died at the hospital after police found him suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace SE February 10.
Several other 2013 homicide victims remain marked with leftover crime scene caution tape:
Frederick Booker was found shot in the 4100 block of 20th Street Northeast on May 5; he later died at the hospital.
Damon Brown was pronounced dead at the scene of a shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Livingston Terrace Southeast on February 23.
Dominic Davis was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 500 block of 57th Street Northeast January 14; he later died at the hospital.
Thomas Jamison died at the hospital after police found him suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1200 block of Raum Street Northeast May 1; detectives later determined that the shooter acted in self-defense.
Tyrone Joyner was found gunned down in the 1400 block of Canal Street Southwest on February 24. He later died at the hospital.
Mikal Hudnall died on the scene of a shooting that occurred in the 5800 block of Southern Avenue Southeast April 12.
