A teenager shot Monday in Northeast DC has died of his injuries, MPD reported Wednesday morning.
The teen, identified as Malik Spears, a 16-year-old from Southeast, was found Monday night shot in a hallway of a building in the 1200 block of Brentwood Road. He was transported to a hospital and died Tuesday.
Spears is the second teenager to be killed in DC this year. Darius Cannon, also 16, was killed April 7 in Southeast DC.

Homicide: 1200 Block of Brentwood Road, Northeast
(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 1200 block of Brentwood Road, Northeast.
On Monday, June 3, 2013 at approximately 11:18 pm, patrol officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1200 block of Brentwood Road, Northeast for the sounds of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they located a male inside a hallway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
On Tuesday, June 04, 2013, at approximately 1:25 pm, the victim of this shooting, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The remains of the decedent have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia pending a determination of a cause and manner of death.
The decedent is identified as 16 year-old Malik Spears of Southeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
