Troy Quentin Robinson Held in Connection with Tywayne Thompson Murder

Judge Karen Howze found probable cause Friday that Troy Quentin Robinson participated in the June shooting death of 25-year-old Tywayne Thompson. Robinson, 18, remains held pending a preliminary hearing September 4.

On June 24 at around 1:25 a.m., police found Thompson in the 700 block of 12th Street Southeast suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Thompson was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors believe Thompson was shot and killed over a scooter.

Arrests documents say a witness spoke to Thompson an hour before he was shot, and Thompson said he was going to ride his scooter to the 700 block of 12th Street SE.

Another witness told police that on two separate occasions he heard someone he identified as Carlos Parks brag about shooting Thompson. The witness told police that Parks said he and Robinson planned to rob Thompson of his scooter. Parks said Robinson approached Thompson pretending to buy his scooter, according to the witness, and then Robinson and Thompson walked away together.

A short while later, Robinson shot Thompson’s legs, the witness said Parks told him.

The witness said Parks told Robinson to finish Thompson off so he couldn’t identify them to the police, but Robinson wouldn’t, so Parks did it.

Another witness told police that several days after the shooting he overheard Parks and Robinson arguing about who shot Thompson where. The witness said Robinson and Parks admitted to shooting Thompson in the legs, but both denied shooting him in the stomach.

Court documents say Thompson suffered gunshot wounds to the back, groin and left leg; and the bullet that caused the back wound exited through his stomach.

Court records do not indicate that Carlos Parks has been arrested in connection with Thompson’s death.

Charging documents have been added to this post.
