A shooting in the 1500 block of Gallatin Place Northeast left a 48-year-old man dead Thursday evening, MPD reported.
Police found Kevin Lanard James, of Northwest DC, with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at a local hospital.

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1500 block of Gallatin Place, Northeast.
On Thursday, January 16, 2014, at approximately 7:39 pm, police officers from the Fourth District responded to a call for an accident with injuries in the 1500 block of Gallatin Place, Northeast. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause and manner of death.
The decedent has been identified as 48-year-old Kevin Lanard James of Northwest, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
