MPD has identified the victims as 36-year-old Oluremi Thomas and 24-year-old Keyonna Proctor.
In a listserv message, Councilmember Jim Graham wrote that the deaths of Thomas and Proctor could be drug-related and that “there may also be a suggestion of an execution style killing.” Graham also says that neither victim lived in the apartment.

UPDATE 11:00 a.m.
WJLA reports that a cousin of the male victim found both victims with multiple gunshot wounds in the basement of a rowhouse on Girard Street NW. Neighbors told WJLA that the owners rent the basement to Howard University students.
Washington Post reporter Mike DeBonis tweets that MPD chief Cathy Lanier has said the victims don’t “appear to be students at this time”.

A man and a woman were found dead in a home in Northwest DC late Monday night and police are investigating their deaths as a double homicide, MyFoxDC and NBC Washington report.
They had been shot, MyFoxDC reports.
