George Edward Hartzog Identified as Quarles St NE Shooting Victim

A man fatally shot Friday morning in Northeast DC has been identified as 24-year-old George Edward Hartzog, police said Saturday evening.

Hartzog was found shot in the 4500 block of Quarles Street at about 9:31 a.m. He was declared dead at the scene.

Homicide: 4500 Block of Quarles Street, Northeast

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast.

On Friday, January 24, 2014, at approximately 9:31 am, members from the Sixth District responded to a call for a report of a shooting in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and determined that there were no signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, pending an autopsy.

The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old George Edward Hartzog of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
