Marquette Hooks, 18, Killed in SE DC Sunday Evening


A shooting in the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast killed 18-year-old Marquette Hooks on Sunday evening, according to MPD.

Police found Hooks and another man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at about 9:16 p.m., according to a press release. Both were taken to a local hospital; Hooks later died from his injuries.

Homicide: 1300 Block of Alabama Avenue, SE

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue, SE.

On Sunday, February 23, 2014, at approximately 9:16 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to a call for the sounds of gunshots in the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue, SE. Upon arrival, they located two adult males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, Maryland pending an autopsy and a determination of a cause and manner of death

The decedent is identified as 18 year-old Marquette Hooks of Southwest, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
