The man killed in a police-involved shooting Tuesday morning has been identified as 19-year-old Daquan Hendrix. Hendrix was sought in connection with the shooting death of Tykia Dickerson.
According to a press release from MPD, Hendrix was shot at approximately 6:17 a.m. when officers arrived to execute an arrest warrant and Hendrix fired a handgun at the officers. News reports indicate that Hendrix exited a home in the unit block of K street Northwest with people inside when he began shooting.

Fatal Police Involved Shooting: Unit Block of K Street, NW
(Washington, DC)- The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal police involved shooting that occurred in the Unit block of K Street, NW.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at approximately 6:17 am, members of the Capital Area Region Fugitive Task Force attempted to execute an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted in connection with a homicide, when the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the officers. The officers returned fire striking the suspect. No officers were injured.
Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The suspect’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.
The suspect is identified as 19-year-old Daquan Hendrix from Hyattsville, Maryland. He was wanted in the homicide of 19-year-old Tykia Dickerson which occurred on February 27, 2014, in the 3600 block of Jay Street, NE.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division is conducting the investigation.
