A shooting just after midnight Saturday killed 35-year-old Derrick Eugene Williams, MPD reported Sunday.
Police officers found Williams, of Southeast D.C., with an apparent gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Eaton Road Southeast. He died at a local hospital.

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1200 block of Eaton Road, Southeast.
On Saturday, March 29, 2014, at approximately 12:27 am, officers from the Seventh District responded to a call for the report of sounds of gunshots in the 1200 block of Eaton Road, Southeast. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Derrick Eugene Williams of Southeast, DC.
