A shooting in the 5400 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast killed 22-year-old Charles Melvin Parrish Monday night, according to MPD.
Police found Parrish suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at approximately 9:50 p.m. when they responded to a report of a shooting. Parrish was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to a press release, the cause and manner of death is pending.

Homicide: 5400 Block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 5400 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast.
On Monday, March 31, 2014, at approximately 9:50 pm, police officers from the Sixth District responded to a call to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The decedent has been subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland, where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain cause and manner of death.
The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Charles Melvin Parrish of Northeast, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
