On Monday,
The trial of Arik Sims is scheduled to begin before Judge Robert Morin. He is charged withfirst-degree murder while armed and related weapons offenses in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Lamar Michael Fonville.
Jekwan Smith is scheduled for a status hearing before Judge Jennifer Anderson. Smith is suspected in the death of Isaiah Sheffield. In December 2013, jurors were unable to reach a verdict in connection with some of Smith’s charges; Smith was acquitted of the most serious murder charge he faced.
On Tuesday,
Carlton Maurice Johnson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Judge Jennifer Anderson. Johnson is suspected in the July 2013 shooting deaths of Anthony Chase, 19, and Eric Leeper, 27. Charging documents say that one witness saw a person it identified as Johnson exit a car in the 3900 block of C Street Southeast and put a t-shirt over his head. Shortly after, the witness saw the same person chase down and shoot Chase and Leeper.
Tisheena Brown is scheduled for a felony status conference before Judge Lynn Leibovitz. Brown is suspected in the prescription drug overdose death of her one-month-old son Hakeem Brown. Last week, Brown waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
On Wednesday,
Albrecht Muth is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Russell Canan. Jurors found Muth guilty of first-degree premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances in connection with the death of his 91-year-old wife, Viola Herms Drath.
Donte Graves is scheduled for a status hearing by Judge Russell Canan. On April 7, a mistrial was declared after jurors announced they were unable to reach a verdict. Ten jurors reported that they were prepared to acquit Graves of second-degree murder while armed, assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.
Erik Postell is scheduled for a status hearing before Judge Lynn Leibovitz. Postell, 23, is charged with first-degree murder while armed and five other weapon charges in connection to the shooting death of 24-year-old Paul Aime Tanoh Danzo.
On Friday,
Johnathan Dawkins is scheduled for a trial readiness hearing before Judge Robert Morin. Dawkins is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 2012 death of Dwayne Edward Brisbon.
James Brewer is scheduled for a status hearing at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Herbert Dixon. Brewer and his codefendant Stephan Page were sentenced to over 28 years in prison in connection with the shooting death of 71-year-old Vietnam veteran Solomon Reese.
