Jermaine Dews Identified as Man Fatally Shot in NE D.C.

A man who died after being shot in the 5800 Block of Field Place, Northeast has been identified as Jermaine Dews, 27, from Southeast D.C., police said Thursday afternoon.

Dews was found with multiple gunshot wounds when police responded to sounds of gunshots at approximately 3:10 p.m. Wednesday. He died at the scene.

Homicide: 5800 Block of Field Place, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 5800 block of Field Place, Northeast.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at approximately 3:10 pm, police officers from the Sixth District responded to the 5800 block of Field Place, NE, for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, police officers discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, unconscious and unresponsive. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined there were no signs consistent with life. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

The decedent has been identified as 27-year-old Jermaine Dews of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
