A 43-year-old Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the January shooting death of Kevin Lanard James.
The man, identified by police as Kevin Darrell Boykins of Mount Rainer, is suspected of first-degree felony murder while armed, police say.

Arrest Made in the Homicide: 1500 Block of Gallatin Place, Northeast
(Washington, DC) – )- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide which occurred in the 1500 block of Gallatin Place, Northeast.
On Thursday, January 16, 2014, at approximately 7:39 pm, police officers from the Fourth District responded to a call for an accident with injuries in the 1500 block of Gallatin Place, Northeast. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause and manner of death.
The decedent has been identified as 48-year-old Kevin Lanard James of Northwest, Washington, DC.
On Thursday, June 26, 2014, at approximately 1:30 pm, 43 year-old Kevin Darrell Boykins of Mount Rainer, Maryland, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, pursuant to a District of Columbia Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Felony Murder While Armed in connection to the homicide of Kevin Lanard James.
