Andre Burks was sentenced to 15 years Thursday for fatally shooting Antwan Boseman, and for wounding another man after Burks and Boseman got into an argument.
Burks pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed and assault with a deadly weapon on June 2.
Boseman, 24, was found on Aug. 4, 2012, in the 800 block of Barnaby Street Southeast with multiple gunshot wounds. He had been shot multiple times in the neck, back and left knee area, according to plea documents.
A witness told police that the men were part of a group trying to resolve a neighborhood argument about an assault, according to court documents. The witness said that during the conversation, Burks made “references to ‘gun play’ and further altercations that would occur over the next week,” documents say.
Burks will serve 13 years for the second-degree murder charge, plus two years for assault with a deadly weapon.
