A woman found dead early Sunday morning has been ruled a homicide, police announced Monday.
Just before 5 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire on the 2700 block of Langston Place Southeast. Latroia Renee Smith, 26, was found dead at the scene.
A medical examiner found that Smith “sustained gunshot wounds and burns,” police said. The cause of death is undetermined. No suspects have been named.
According to WJLA, Smith was a mother of three.

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a death as a homicide. On Sunday, November 2, 2014 at approximately 4:56 am, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call for a fire in the 2700 block of Langston Place, Southeast. Upon arrival, they located a deceased female, who has been identified as 26 year-old Latroia Renee Smith, of Northwest, Washington DC. The investigation revealed that the decedent sustained gunshot wounds and burns.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
