Comment of the Day

This comment of the day comes from Juanita, who wrote in response to a community discussion about violent youth. She said:

My son Henry D. Kelly was murdered on March 5, 2011 he was found shot to death in the rear of 3122 Buena Vista Terrace SE, still to this day the police have not made an arrest and I am ANGRY. I do not think parents should be held accountable for the crimes there children commit. I think laws need to be changed to tougher penalties. Read more

This comment of the day comes from KEIANNA.

Seeing the pictures of the victims just brought tears to my eyes. Joshua look as I remembered him. Just a lil man from around the way…So So sad. Praying for his family, his child and the mother of his child and all his friends. Jesus please, if you don’t hear another one of my prayers, please hear this one….Please Bring Peace to SOUTH EAST & Justice for all the victims. That neighborhood do not need another ring of gun fire. Allow the police to solve these cases ASAP!

Comment of the Day

This Comment of the Day comes from “Patch,” who wrote:

I grew up in this neighborhood. I knew these kids on a personal level. It really breaks my heart to see people I have watch grow up lose their lives to violence in this way. Because I grew up in SE, I had the chance to get to know people who are really living right as well as people who may not be living right at all. Everyone who live in that neighborhood wants a better life, but there isn’t anyone around to teach them any better. I am heart broken. However, this is the reason why (once I became a mother) I moved out of that community. Every Spring and Summer, someone I know, from Highlands, dies to gun violence. I am praying that God can bless and restore the people. May God heal the mothers.

Comment of the Day

This comment of the day comes from Family Friend, who wrote in about Ebony Mack.

I will miss Ebony full of laughter and smiles. This is a very senseless and tragic death for a young woman and a great lost for her two kids. Just gone to soon. Ebony was very kind and generous human being. Hopefully this homicide will not remain in the “cold case files.”

Comment of the Day

This comment of the day comes from “nevermind” regarding the prosecution of Damon Sams for the murder of Ashley McRae.

Damon is a good person that made a bad mistake that unfortunately took a beautiful girls life. He is heart broken and we can’t imagine how he feels. She was a lovely girl and its sad. I pray for both of the families for their loss.

Another teenage girl is dead within 3 blocks of my home and still no arrests. Justice for Ebony Franklin and Lucki Pannell is justice for all women. Their deaths make us all vulnerable.

Comment of the Day: Latisha Frazier

This comment of the day comes from Ms. Belk, who wrote in about Latisha Frazier, whose disappearance was classified as a homicide on January 22. Her body has not been found.

I had the pleassure of meeting her mother and her sister by way of working with them. I have been a part of their search efforts since they found out she was missing. They have done everything in their power to locate her. Her mom seems to think now she will have closure but not experiencing this myself, I don’t know of anyone that can have closure when the love one has been taken away by another human being. You can’t stop thinking about why. I am happy that there has been an arrest and hope the person responsible is the person they have.
God Bless your family.
