Jimmie Fleming Pleads Guilty for Inside Car Shooting
Jimmie Fleming pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of voluntary manslaughter while armed; one for the death of Derek Price and another for the
death of Donchell Thomas. Fleming also pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault for the shooting of a third victim in the car.
Police found three men in a car at the intersection of North Capitol and T Street. Price and Thomas each had gunshot wounds to the head and both later died at a local hospital.
Prosecutors believe the shooting was unprovoked and without warning, according to a press release.
Lennard Sweeney Released in Edward Hall Jr Murder
Judge John Ramsey Johnson released Lennard Sweeney from custody Friday while he awaits a preliminary hearing.
Sweeney is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in connection with the stabbing death of Edward Eugene Hall Jr. He will be required to make weekly in-person check-ins to Pretrial Services.

Melvin George Charged in Assault that Killed Jeffrey Coleman
Judge Karen Howze ordered Melvin Kenneth George released under high-intensity supervision Thursday for the deadly assault of 46-year-old Jeffrey Coleman on May 24.
He was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with Coleman’s death on Sept. 18, three months after the alleged assault.

Manuel Garcia Pleads Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter
Manuel Garcia waived his right to a trial Wednesday and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter while armed for the fatal shooting of Luis E. Avila Melendez on June 21.
Melendez, 27, was found shot after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Fuller street and Mozart place. A witness called 911 after hearing five to six gunshots and seeing a Hispanic man and woman running, charging documents say.

Raheem Jones Held in the Shooting Death of Deandria Conyers
Judge Karen Howze ordered 33-year-old Raheem Jones held Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection to the Sept. 14 shooting death of Deandria Conyers.
Conyers was found shot at approximately 8:48 p.m. in a residence in the 2000 block of Ridgecrest Court Southeast. Arrest documents say that Jones is the father of Conyers’ 4-month-old child.
Jones told detectives that he had past domestic issues with Conyers, including a conversation that day about child support, charging documents say. Jones also said he told Conyers that he was going to her house that day, though he said he didn’t actually go because he thought Conyers “was setting him up.”
Paul Jefferies Indicted in the Murder of Awele Olisemeka
Paul Jefferies pleaded innocent Thursday to second-degree murder while armed in the September 2013 death of Awele Olisemeka, who died after being hit in the head with a brick.
Olisemeka, 24, was fatally beaten after a group of men attacked and attempted to rob his friends on 5th street and Kennedy Street Northwest, charging documents say.
He was found on the 900 block of Madison Northwest beaten and unconscious on Sept. 16, 2013. Olisemeka was transported to a local hospital, where he died two days later.

Raheem Jones Arrested in Shooting Death of Deandria Conyers
A 33-year-old Northeast D.C. man has been arrested in connection with the September shooting death of 27-year-old Deandria Conyers.
The man, identified by police as Raheem Jones, is suspected of second-degree murder while armed.
Conyers was found shot in a residence in the 2000 block of Ridgecrest Court Southeast on September 14.

Melvin Kenneth George Arrested in Deadly Assault of Jeffrey Coleman
MPD announced Wednesday that a 28-year-old Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the May 24 assault of Jeffrey Coleman, which resulted in his death on September 18.
The man identified by police as Melvin Kenneth George, 28, is suspected of second-degree murder, police say.
Coleman, 46, was found unconscious and bleeding from the face in the 2300 block of Pitts Place, Southeast. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries three months later.

Dwayne Williams Charged with Killing Murder Witness
Judge Karen Howze ordered Dwayne Williams held Tuesday on suspicion of premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the November 2011 shooting death of Ronald Deacon Smith.
Smith was expected to testify against Williams’ best friend David Warren, charging documents say. Warren was later convicted of murder for killing Ervin Lamont Griffin.
Five days after Warren was first presented in court, police found Smith dead, with a gunshot wound to the head, in the 1100 block of 21st Street Northeast, charging documents say. A second man shot in the incident survived.
