Metro Police are investigating two homicides in Southwest D.C.
One victim is believed to be a teenage boy who lived in a nearby group home. The other victim is believed to be a woman.

Law enforcement sources tell ABC7’s Ben Eisler a body found near Nationals Park in Southwest D.C. is that of a 17-year-old from a group home. The victim was shot at some point overnight. The body was found this morning by a boy on his way to school. The child called his parents, who alerted 911.

Officials tell 9NEWS NOW officers were called to an alley in the 1300 block of Half Street in Southwest around 8:15 Wednesday morning for a report of a man down. The first officer to arrive immediately called for homicide investigators to respond to the scene.

Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW a witness reported the incident around 8:40 Tuesday night at 2 Galveston Place. Officers arriving on scene found a woman with stab wounds to the upper torso. Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
