Tawanna Barnes Copeland, a 41-year-old single mother who was killed in her Southwest D.C. home Dec. 6, will be buried tomorrow (Wednesday) at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland-Silver Hill, Md.
A viewing is scheduled for tonight and a funeral service will be held at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church on New Jersey Ave., SE tomorrow, according to Copeland’s obituary.Read more

A woman stabbed to death in her Southwest D.C. apartment has been
identified as 41-year-old Tawana Barnes-Copeland. While identified in media reports as Tawanna Barnes-Copeland, her Facebook profile uses the names Tawana Copeland.
ABC 7 News reports Copeland was an employee of Georgetown University Hospital and mother of three daughters.
Copeland’s Facebook page indicates that she was a 1987 graduate of Ballou High School.
Metro Police are investigating two homicides in Southwest D.C.
One victim is believed to be a teenage boy who lived in a nearby group home. The other victim is believed to be a woman.

Metro Police are investigating a homicide in the unit block of Galveston Place, SW, The Washington Post reports.
WUSA9 reports that the woman died in a stabbing attack and that police do not have information to release about what lead to the attack or who any suspects might be.
According to Examiner.com, the victim is a woman found dead in an apartment, possibly with a cut on her neck.
The homicide occurred around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday night, the Post reports.
