Eight D.C. residents have been victims of homicide this year in Prince George’s County, making up more than a quarter of those killed in the county since a spike in homicides that began in January.
According to a round-up of PG County homicides this year by D.C. Russell at Gory Prince George’s, the first victim of the year was 26-year-old Maurice Valentine, killed Jan. 6.
Other victims were:

- Phillip Watson, 30, Mar 4, 2011
- Standard Dean Sweet, 57, Mar 19, 2011
- Kyree Efrem Simms, 18, Mar 24, 2011
- Paul Jason Bennett, 30, Mar 27, 2011
- Brian Vincent Cooper, 20, Mar 28, 2011
DC residents are not so represented among suspects in PG County; only one arrest in a homicide case this year was of a D.C. resident. Brian Hinkle, a 32-year-old D.C. man, was arrested on suspicion of killing Simms.
