The Washington Post has details on a fatal shooting that took place near Howard University Saturday night, killing 20-year-old Keenan Jerel Lee.
Shortly after 10 p.m. that night, Keenan Jerel Lee, 20, was fatally shot on Georgia Avenue NW near W Street. Lee, of Capitol Heights, was involved in an altercation on the street before the shooting, said D.C. Council member Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) and a law enforcement source.
The dispute arose between Lee and another individual over a “girl-related problem,” Graham said. Witnesses said Lee struck the shooter before he was shot, the source indicated.“The guy just pulled a gun,” Graham said. “You gotta be careful who you punch. You don’t know who’s got a gun in their pocket.”
