19th St NE Shooting Victim Identified as Joseph Jerome Mickens

A 22-year-old man killed in a mid-morning shooting Saturday has been identified as Joseph Jerome Mickens of Northeast, DC, MPD said in a press release.

The shooting took place near an alley in the 700 block of 19th St. MPD Commander Andy Solberg said.

Homicide: 700 Block of 19th Street, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 700 block of 19th Street, NE.

On Saturday, November 26, 2011, at approximately 10:18 am, units from the Fifth District responded to the 700 block of 19th Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival on the scene, they located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local area hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 22 year-old Joseph Jerome Mickens of Northeast, Washington, D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
