Week Ahead

Each Friday, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Monday, Deangelo Garner is scheduled for a status in the August 2010 shooting death of Antonio Vela. Garner has pleaded innocent to charges of first-degree murder, two weapons charges and a fourth charge. Judge Beck will conduct the hearing. A trial is scheduled for the following week.

On Wednesday, David and Montez Warren are scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Ronna Beck. Montez Warren is suspected of first-degree murder while armed and David Warren is suspected of felony murder while armed in the shooting death of Ervin Lamont in May 2011.

Raymond Faunteroy is expected for a preliminary hearing Wednesday with Judge Thomas Motley. Faunteroy is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the December shooting death of 19-year-old Derrick Ragland near Catholic University.

On Thursday, Alexis Pineda is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Robert Morin. Pineda is charged with first-degree murder while armed and has pleaded innocent in the shooting death of Jose Hernandez-Romero. Pineda is scheduled for a jury trial June 11.

Christopher Williams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Beck. Williams is one of three people currently suspected in the fatal “revenge robbery” of Kevin Blackwell Jr. in December.

Rashid Caviness-Bey is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Ronald Machen on Thursday. Nineteen-year-old Caviness-Bey is suspected of felony murder in the shooting death of Osman Al-Akbar in August. A juvenile murder suspect has told authorities that he, not Caviness-Bey, was responsible for killing 19-year-old Al-Akbar.

On Friday, Deshaun Johnson and Timothy Shade are scheduled for sentencing on Friday in the death of Bernard Lewis Jr. Johnson and Shade both pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in December after initially facing charges of second-degree murder.

Brandon Andrews is expected for a felony arraignment with Judge William Jackson. Andrews faces 11 charges related to the fatal shooting of Leonard Bigelow, including first-degree murder while armed, three counts of threat to kidnap or injure a person, and three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

On Friday, Harold Proctor and Wayne Jackson are scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Beck. They are also suspected of partaking in the fatal “revenge robbery” of Kevin Blackwell Jr. in December.

Columbia Heights YouTube rapper “Goo,” Marc Tapp, is also scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Beck on Friday. Tapp is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Jermaine Anderson.

Jewel Washington is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Morin on Friday. Nineteen-year-old Washington is suspected of fatally stabbing her 45-year-old half-brother, Mark Goldring, during an argument. She was released from custody Dec. 5.
