Police have identified the victim in an overnight shooting in the 600 block of Edgewood Street Northeast as 30-year-old Joseph Denard Southall.
Southall, who has no fixed address, was found with gunshot wounds at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police said in a statement. MPD’s press release is below.

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the homicide which occurred in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast.
On Sunday, April 29, 2012 at approximately 1:30 am, members from the Fifth District responded to the 600 block of Edgewood Street, NE for the report of sounds of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel did not find any signs consistent with life and the victim was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 30 year-old Joseph Denard Southall of no fixed address.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
