Anthony Antonio Watts Identified as Victim of Midday Shooting

Police identified Anthony Antonio Watts, 31, also known as Buck, as the victim of a homicide Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at 36th Street and Benning Road Northeast Thursday at 12:39 p.m.

Watts’ body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe a black Toyota Camry with tinted windows and Pennsylvania license plates may be connected to the crime, according to the Washington Post. The vehicle was seen leaving the scene with two people in the car and entering the nearby Anacostia Freeway.

Homicide: 36th Street and Benning Road, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred on 36th Street and Benning Road, NE.

On Thursday, October 25, 2012, at approximately 12:39 pm, units from the Sixth District responded to 36th Streetand Benning Road, NE, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 31 year-old Anthony Antonio Watts of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
