In brief:

A fatal Metrobus shooting ended with the suspect’s suicide in Hempstead, N.Y. Authorities say Selina Brown died in the doorway of a Metrobus in Southeast D.C Sunday evening. Her boyfriend and the father of her child, Javon Steven Foster, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday.

Joseph Chandler, who police say shot his girlfriend, 63-year-old Shirley Renee Tucker, earlier this month, made his first court appearance and was ordered held without bond. Chandler was hospitalized for several days after he complained of chest pains.

Judge Thomas Motley ordered Dennis Washington held for trial  Tuesday in the beating death of Thomas Lipscomb.

Judge William Jackson sentenced Charles Coates to 33 years behind bars after he was convicted in a September trial of killing his cousin, Eddie A. Leonard Jr., in a dispute over a $200 cable bill.

Two men were sentenced for their role in the 2011 fatal shooting of Demetrius Thompson aboard a W4 Metrobus. Delron Atchison was sentenced to 30 years in prison, while his accomplice Vincent Gray received a 21-year sentence.

Judge Robert Morin sentenced Eric Foreman, now 18, to 42 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of Catholic University of America graduate student Neil Godleski.
