Week Ahead

Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.


On Monday Albrecht Muth is expected to stand trial for the death of his wife, Viola Drath. Judge Russell Canan will preside; Muth is expected to appear from the hospital via video. Opening arguments are expected to take place Tuesday. Monday’s hearings are scheduled to being at 9 a.m.

Paul Jefferies is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Canan at 9 a.m. Jefferies is suspected of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Awele Olisemeka.

David Jamal Wilson is expected for a status hearing with Judge Jennifer Anderson. Wilson is suspected of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of Howard Venable Jr.

Joseph Peoples is expected for a trial readiness hearing with Judge Robert Morin; he is expected to stand trial Jan. 21 on a charge of first-degree murder while armed. He’s suspected in the July 7, 2012, death of Michael Edward Jones.

James Sandidge is not expected at DC Superior Court Monday; his trial that was scheduled to being Monday has been postponed due to witness availability issues. His new trial date is March 10.

Tuesday, Howard Bruce Randolph is expected for a bond review hearing and felony arraignment with Judge Canan. He is suspected of involuntary manslaughter in the June 30, 2013 death of Rayshawn Hailstock.

Keir Johnson‘s and Lester Williams‘ trial is expected to resume with Judge Lynn Leibovitz.

James Robinson is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Anderson. Robinson is suspected of second-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 31, 2013, death of Jason Alexander Murphy.

Andrew Williams is expected for a status hearing with Judge Rhonda Winston Reid. Williams is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the May 14, 2011, death of Junon Tyree Snead.

Demonta Chappell is expected for a status hearing with Judge Anderson. Chappell is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the Oct. 27, 2012, death of Stevann Moorer.

Wednesday, Rashad Slye is expected for a trial readiness hearing with Judge Leibovitz. Slye is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in connection with in the Oct. 22, 2011, death of Domingo Ezirike.

Judge Leibovitz is also expecting Rasdavid Lagarde is expected for a preliminary hearing. Lagarde is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in connection with the July 4, 2013, death of Omar Sykes.

Woodrow Johnson is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Reid. Johnson is suspected of second-degree murder in connection with the death of death of 24-year-old Shamika Smith, who was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Benning Road in Southeast DC.

Friday, Alexander Gomez-Enamorado is expected for sentencing with Judge Canan at 11:30 a.m. Gomez-Enamorado was found guilty in the Nov. 8, 2010 death of Miguel Angel Ventura.

Judge Canan is also expecting Marvin Moore for sentencing at 11 a.m. Moore pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Timothy Benjamin.

Kevin Walker is expected for a status hearing with Judge Canan Friday as well.

Judge Anderson is expecting Burnis Cole, Carlos Parks, Raymond Faunteroy and Troy Robinson for status hearings.

Judge Reid is expecting Claire Rice, Michael Marshall and Stefon Kirkpatrick for status hearings.

Donzell Butler is expected for a trial readiness hearing with Judge John Ramsey Johnson at 11 a.m. Butler is suspected in the July 7, 2012, death of Charles Anthony Scott Jr.

Judge Robert Morin is expecting Jermaine Brown and Reynaud Cook for status hearings. Cook’s hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m.

William Hogan is expected for sentencing with Judge Beck at noon. Hogan pleaded guilty in the Sept. 17, 2013, death of Robert Spencer.
