A man fatally shot in Southeast DC early Friday morning has been identified as 23-year-old Cortez Carter of Capitol Heights, Maryland.

June 7, 2014 Decedent Identified in Homicide:3100 Block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast.
On Friday, June 6, 2014, at approximately 12:05 am, police officers from the Seventh District responded to a call for service for the report of the sounds of gunshots in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the cause and manner of death.
The decedent is identified as 23 year-old Cortez Carter of Capitol Heights, Maryland.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
