A shooting in the 1200 Block of Simms Place Northeast killed 23-year-old DaShawn Hammonds early Sunday morning, according to MPD. Police officers found Hammonds unconscious and unresponsive at approximately 5:23 a.m. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital where succumbed to his injuries.
