MPD on Wednesday night identified a man shot by police in Southeast DC as 19-year-old Kevin Bolden.
Bolden brandished a handgun and fired at an officer before the officer fired back, killing him, MPD said. The officer was not injured.

Police Involved Shooting: 800 Block of 51st Street, SE
(Washington, DC)-The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a police involved shooting which occurred in the 800 block of 51st Street, SE.
Preliminary investigation reveals that at approximately 2:20 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, personnel from the Sixth District responded to the 800 block of 51st Street, SE for the report of a drug complaint. While investigating the complaint an individual on the scene brandished a handgun and fired at the officers which resulted in the officers firing their service weapons striking the suspect. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the suspect to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 19 year-old Kevin Bolden of Southeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Force Investigation Team of the Internal Affairs Division is conducting the investigation.
