A shooting in the 2500 Block of Sayles Place, Southeast killed 23-year-old Demencio Lewis Thursday night, according to MPD.
Lewis was found by an off-duty police officer who heard gunshots while in the 2600 block of Bowen Road, Southeast around midnight. According to the press release, Lewis suffered multiple gunshot wounds and emergency personnel found no signs consistent with life at the scene.

Homicide: 2500 Block of Sayles Place, Southeast
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 2500 block of Sayles Place, Southeast.
On Thursday, March 13, 2014, at approximately 11:57 pm, an off-duty officer heard sounds of gunshots while in the 2600 block of Bowen Road, Southeast. The officer located an adult male in the 2500 block of Sayles Place, Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and determined that there were no signs consistent with life. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, pending an autopsy.
The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Demencio Lewis of Southeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
