Week Ahead

On Monday, Kwan Kearney and Jeremy Risper are scheduled to stand trial for the death of Jamal Wilson. Judge Thomas Motley is assigned to the case.

Also Monday, Raymond Roseboro is scheduled for trial for the death of Prince Okorie. Judge Ronna Beck is assigned to the case; however because she is currently hearing the South Capitol Street murder case, Roseboro’s case will likely be assigned to another judge.

On Wednesday, Albrecht Muth is scheduled to be arraigned on a first degree murder charge for the death of his wife, Viola Drath. Judge Russel Cannan is assigned to the case.

Thursday, Ellsworth Colbert is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Motley. He’s suspected of killing his neighbor, Robert Wright.

Judge Motley is also expecting Bradley Allen, Stephen Page, and James Brewer for status hearings. Brewer and Page are suspected of first-degree murder in the death of Solomon Reese; Allen is suspected of helping Brewer escape from court before being presented with the charge.

Friday, Brandon Terry is expected for a status hearing with Judge Beck. Terry is suspected in the shooting death of Jhonte Coleman outside the Heritage India nightclub in Dupont Circle.

Judge Beck is also expecting Davon Holmes, Joseph Spinks, Lester Wright, and Phillip Crooms for status hearings. Holmes is suspected of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Marcellus Terrell Bailey. Spinks is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting and burning death of Delonte Butler; Crooms is suspected of felony murder in the same case. Wright is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Howard Harold Williams.

Judge Motley is expecting Antonio Jones for a status hearing in a second-degree murder case. Jones is suspected in the shooting death of Davon Paul Gray.

On Tuesday, Chamontae Walker and Corey Yates are scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Thomas Motley. Walker and Yates are charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Darrel Hendy. Their trial may begin March 19, depending on the health of one of the defense attorneys.

On Thursday, Curtis Patterson is expected for a status hearing with Judge Motley. Patterson is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Angelo Jones. Patterson’s former co-defendant, Rickey Pharr, was found guilty of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice and three weapons charges last week.

Karl Pugh is also scheduled for a felony status hearing with Judge Motley Thursday. Pugh is suspected of second-degree murder in death of Quentin Joavar  Ragland. The grand jury investigation into Pugh’s role in Ragland’s death finished Feb. 24 and formal charges are expected soon.

On Friday, 18-year-old Anthony Hatton is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Motley. Hatton is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the death of 17-year-old Tyrell Fogle. Two MPD officers witnessed the shooting that killed Fogle. A jury trial is scheduled for July 23.

Deonte Bryant and Terrance Bush are scheduled for for a felony status hearing with Judge William Jackson. Bryant and Bush are suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the death of Robert Foster Jr. in the Caribbean Festival shooting on June 25.

Jeffrey Mills is also scheduled for a felony status hearing with Judge Jackson Friday. Mills is suspected of beating Juan Antonio Paredes to death with a barbell in Columbia Heights on Jan. 14.

 Kwan Kearney is expected for a felony status hearing with Judge Motley at 11 a.m. Friday. Kearney has pleaded innocent to first-degree murder charges in the death of Jamal Demetrius Wilson. Kearney was recently convicted in the death of Joseph Alonzo Sharps Jr. and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

On Friday, Stephanie Lawson is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Beck. Lawson is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Karen Jordan. A detective said a fight over the $20 that Jordan allegedly owed Lawson led to the stabbing.

Stephen Barnes is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Motley on Friday. Barnes is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Stephon Way after a confrontation at a gas station.

Rickey Pharr‘s trial in the death of Angelo Jones is expected to continue with Judge Thomas Motley this week. Jurors were told to anticipate the trial picking up again Monday.

On Friday,

Brian Gaither and Johnnie Sweets are expected for a motions hearing with Judge William Jackson. They are scheduled for trial in Nov. 2012 and are suspected of felony murder and first-degree murder in the death of Latisha Frazier.

Kevin Benbow is also expected with Judge Jackson. He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing on a charge of first-degree murder while armed in connection with shooting death of Jinnell Barbara McQueen.

Wayne Jackson is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Ronna Beck. He’s suspected of felony murder in the stabbing death of Kevin Blackwell Jr.

William Faison is also expected by Judge Beck. He’s scheduled for a status hearing in a felony murder while armed case. He’s suspected in the shooting death of Jeffrey Yarnell Covington.

On Wednesday, Sharrod Peppers is expected for a status hearing with Judge Ronna Beck. Peppers is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the shooting death of Rodney Bean. A jury trial is scheduled for June 18.

On Thursday, Anthony Speight is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Ann Keary. Speight is suspected of felony murder in the shooting death of Bill Mitchell in January 2011.

James Fields is scheduled for a felony status conference Thursday with Judge Beck. Fields is suspected of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Freeman in Southeast DC in August 2011.

On Friday, Christopher Williams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Beck at 11 a.m. Williams is suspected of felony murder in the fatal robbery of Kevin Blackwell Jr. Derrell Bennett and Reginald Vance are scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck on Friday. Bennett and Vance both pleaded innocent to charges of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Keith Banks in November 2010.

Eugene Kelly is expected for a status hearing with Judge Motley on Friday at 10:15 a.m. Kelly pleaded innocent to six charges, including first-degree murder, in the May 2011 shooting death of Isaiah Daniel Harris.

Karl Pugh is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Motley on Friday. Pugh is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in the September 2011 shooting death of Lester Wright is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck at 10:30 a.m. Wright pleaded innocent to first-degree murder while armed in the August shooting death of Howard Williams.

Phillip Crooms is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Beck Friday. Crooms is suspected of felony murder in the death of Joseph Spinks a bottle of rubbing alcohol to light Butler’s car on fire after Butler was shot.

Stephen Barnes is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Motley. Barnes is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Stephon Way at a Benning Road NE gas station on Dec. 10.

On Wednesday, Damien Pannell is expected for sentencing with Judge Thomas Motley. Pannell, 30, pleaded guilty Oct. 14 to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of Glenn Bailey, 46, of Northeast, Washington, D.C. Pannell testified in court that he was defending his girlfriend, who was being physically attacked by Bailey in a parking lot in Northeast, when he pushed her aside and stabbed Bailey on May 17.
