A stabbing just after midnight Saturday left 49-year-old Kenyatta Jordan dead, police announced.
Yvonne Simms, 50, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed.
Simms was presented with the murder charge Saturday afternoon at DC Superior Court.

“I cried that day because you were so young,” Kofi Ross Minor told her brother’s killer, DeAndre Shaheed before his sentencing. “This little boy, this baby, who looked so innocent, stole my brother’s life.”
Shaheed, now 19, pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder while armed for his role in the shooting death of Akinwole Olu Williams.
On Friday, Judge Jennifer Anderson sentenced Shaheed to 20 years in prison for his actions. Williams, she told Shaheed, “is an example of how you can rise above circumstances.”

Before delivering their sentences, Judge Robert Morin said that on the night of Michael Jones’ tragic death, evidence showed that Bernard Fleming “participated in a dangerous act,” while Joseph Peoples’ “most serious” crime was tampering with evidence.
In July, Fleming was convicted of second-degree murder, along with six related charges, in connection with Jones’ death. Peoples was acquitted of murder in the same trial, but convicted of carrying a pistol outside the home and tampering with evidence. Read more
A shooting in the 5200 block of Clay Street Northeast killed 26-year-old Titus Jackson Thursday evening, according to MPD.
Police officers responding to the sound of gunshots at approximately 6:10 p.m. located Jackson. According to the Washington Post, police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Marquette Tibbs pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter while armed Thursday for the shooting death of Andre Jackson on Nov. 4, 2012. He was scheduled to begin trial on Monday.
Tibbs’ guilty plea comes two weeks after jurors acquitted his former co-defendant, Lamonte Perry, of first-degree premeditated murder, but deadlocked over the lesser-included charge of second-degree murder. Perry was, however, convicted of obstruction of justice in connection with Jackson’s death. Read more
Judge Karen Howze ordered 20-year-old Darious Scales held Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in connection to the August 2013 shooting death of Timothy Delonte Dawkins.
By all accounts, Scales wasn’t shooting at Dawkins. Charging documents say Scales engaged in a shootout with Todd Green, who was arrested just after Dawkins death a year ago.
Prosecutors appear to be charging both men under urban warfare theory, meaning they don’t have to prove who fired the fatal shot. Instead, they must prove that the parties involved: Read more
Michael Anthony Coleman pleaded innocent Thursday to second-degree murder while armed, plus assault and weapon charges, in the stabbing death of Candance Reed.
At around 2:15 a.m., Reed, 40, was found stabbed in the 5300 block of Georgia Avenue Northwest. She later died at a local hospital.
According to charging documents, a surveillance video shows Coleman, 36, coming in contact with Reed and Reed’s friend outside of Macombo Lounge, a strip club. Read more

A judge declared a mistrial Tuesday in the case against Raymond Faunteroy after jurors couldn’t agree on a verdict for any of his charges. He is charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed and two weapons charge in connection with the 2011 murder of 19-year-old Derrick Ragland.
Anthony Hatton, Johnnie Harris and Jekwan Smith pleaded guilty Monday to criminal charges in connection with the 2011 shooting deaths of Tyrell Fogle and Isaiah Sheffield. In exchange for their pleas, prosecutors agreed to drop the men’s remaining charges.

A judge sentenced DeAndre Shaheed to 20 years in prison for his second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 31-year-old Akinwole Olu Williams. In July, he pleaded guilty to the charge and prosecutors dismissed his charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, attempted armed robbery and five others.
Bernard Fleming was sentenced to 35 years in prison Friday after jurors convicted him of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Michael Edward Jones. His co-defendant Joseph Peoples was sentenced Friday to 1 year for his convictions of carrying a pistol outside the home and tampering with evidence.
