In crime news:
Wyatt Earp Robinson was shot to death last Sunday on Minnesota Avenue in Northeast D.C. Ricardo Mitchell was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder while armed in connection with the case. At his first court appearance this week, Mitchell was ordered held pending a preliminary hearing. Fox5 reported that Mitchell’s girlfriend, a DC police officer, witnessed the shooting and may face charges for not taking action and lying to investigators about what she saw.
Leonard Bigelow was shot to death in Northeast D.C. Friday night; Brandon Andrews was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in connection with the case. Authorities said the shooting took place during a domestic disagreement.
Karen Johnson was fatally stabbed in Northeast Saturday night; Stephanie Lawson was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the case.

In brief:
- Viola Drath‘s death in Georgetown was ruled a homicide by a medical examiner last Saturday and on Tuesday her husband, Albrecht Muth was arrested in connection with the case. He appeared in DC Superior Court Wednesday and was presented with a charge of second-degree murder. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for the case for Sept. 2.
- Vance Darnell Harris II was killed in a stabbing last Saturday; his girlfriend, Dominique Bassil, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the case. She appeared in court Monday to be presented with the charge, and Thursday for a preliminary hearing. At the hearing Judge Gerald Fisher did not find probable cause for second-degree murder, instead ruling that evidence at this time shows cause for involuntary manslaughter. Bassil told authorities that she and Harris were engaged in a physical argument when she ran to the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him.
- Anthony Donnell Peoples was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in an October 2010 homicide that killed 24-year-old Ronald Johnson in Northwest DC.

Corey Yates, a man currently in custody in Maryland on suspicion of first-degree murder there, was indicted by DC’s grand jury on a murder charge here in connection with the shooting death of Darrel Hendy.
A woman was found stabbed to death in downtown D.C., outside the Old Post Office Pavillion Monday. Police have identified here, but have not released her name.
Terrance McNeal was arrested in connection with the murder of Charles Hicks in Southeast D.C. in June. He was presented with a charge of second-degree murder while armed.

Court escapee James Brewer was finally presented with a felony murder charge after being rearrested. Brewer is suspected in the shooting death of Solomon Reese inside an apartment in Southeast DC on June 27. Said his attorney, “It’s clear he was scared and frightened of being convicted of something he didn’t commit.” Later in the week, 18-year-old Stephen Bernard Page, Jr was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder while armed in the case.
A fatal shooting in Petworth killed 23-year-old David Eduardo Gonzalez, a resident of Northwest DC. No arrests have been announced in the case.
Judge William Jackson prohibited D.C.’s public defender service from representing Terry Jimenez, one of three men accused in the shooting death of Robert Foster Jr. following the Caribbean Festival in Northwest D.C. last month. Jackson said based on the government’s evidence, it’s likely that defense attorneys for Jimenez and Terrance Bush, who has been a PDS client for five years, will “invariably point the finger at the other guy.”

- Terrance Marquis Bush was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Robert Foster Jr. last month. Bush is the third person arrested in the case.
- Nelson Javier Fuentes-Portillo, a 19-year-old Northwest DC man, was arrested on suspicion of first degree murder while armed and murder in the aid of racketeering and aiding and abetting in connection with the 2008 murder of Luis Zelaya.
- Rickey Pharr pleaded innocent to charges that he killed 31-year-old Angelo Jones during a craps game in the Clay Terrace neighborhood of D.C. Oct. 2.
- Takia Neeley pleaded guilty to killing Jason Liser in Northeast D.C. in 2009.
- Michael Walters was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the 2008 murder of Michael Henry.
- James Brewer was arrested in connection with the murder of 71-year-old Solomon Reese in Southeast DC last month. Brewer escaped custody from US Marshals at DC Superior Court on Friday, but was reasserted and back in custody on Saturday.

- David Andrew Matthews, a 32-year-old Fort Washington man, was shot and killed Saturday in Northwest DC.
- Allen Butler and Steven Lewis were convicted of second degree murder in a 2008 home invasion homicide.
- Blunt force trauma injuries killed 61 year-old Glenn Scarborough, who was found injured inside his Northeast DC home on Levis Street Sunday. While the case was initially reported as a stabbing, city data indicates that Scarborough’s injuries were from blunt force trauma.
- Charles Hicks, 53, was stabbed to death in the 2600 block of Douglass road, SE.
- Prosecutors said Tuesday that a gang beef over testifying at a murder trial led to Jamal Wilson’s shooting death in November.
- Kerstan Leonard was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting death of Melody Williams at an apartment complex in Southeast DC.
- A settlement was reached in a wrongful death lawsuit brought against the men police suspected of killing Robert Wone, a DC attorney. The men were found not guilty of criminal charges in the case.
- Eric Foreman was indicted on two counts of first degree murder, one count of robbery while armed, and six firearms crimes for crimes surrounding the death of Catholic University grad student Neil Godleski. Foreman is expected to stand trial in February.
- Aaron Adams, the man suspected of killing Garrett White outside a Georgia Ave bar over Memorial Day weekend, was released to a halfway house to await an indictment in the case.
- The mother of Brishell Jones, one of 6 young people killed in a drive-by shooting on South Capitol Street in 2010, has filed a lawsuit against many city agencies including the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, the Metropolitan Police Department, and the D.C Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.
- In other news, while gun violence is the predominate cause of homicide in DC, a Homicide Watch study concludes that since May the rate of homicides by stabbing has spiked to one in three. That’s compared to 1 in 11 for Jan-April.

- Aaron Adams was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Garrett White.
- Marcellus J. Darnaby, 32, was shot to death in an apartment in Northwest DC early Wednesday morning.
- An unidentified man was shot and killed also in NW DC early Saturday morning. Both homicides took place in MPD’s Fourth District.
